Thomas revealed the news on Twitter, where he said he's spending his first day as an indie developer with his family.
And to celebrate my first (public) day of indie dev... I am home w/ my level 0 son. Making sure he doesn't get ganked in the noob zone. :|— Jordan Thomas (@nullspeak) June 19, 2013
In August 2012, it was reported that Thomas was brought "on loan" to Irrational Games to help the studio finish BioShock Infinite. He also recently served as narrative director on 2K's XCOM shooter, which was recently re-revealed as The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
ZoomThe Bureau: XCOM Declassified has been described as an "evolution" of its previously announced XCOM shooter.
Creative director Morgan Gray said of the revamp: "The Bureau tells the story of XCOM's mysterious beginnings. We're expanding the universe with a declassified tale of government conspiracy and heroic cover-ups told through third-person tactical gameplay.
"The team has been working hard to leverage core XCOM elements like tactical decision-making and permanent death of squad mates in a purposeful way that makes this a unique tactical shooter. To that end, The Bureau will challenge players unlike any other third-person tactical shooter."
We recently went hands-on with the game, read our XCOM Declassified preview for our full impressions.
