Naughty Dog's PS3 exclusive is Sony's first all formats No.1 since Uncharted: Golden Abyss on Vita back in week eight of 2012, Chart-Track reports.
It's also the third fastest-selling game of 2013 behind Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite, and the biggest launch for a new IP since LA Noire in week 20 of 2011.
3DS exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf recorded the biggest launch on the portable since December 2011's Mario Kart 7 and the best ever for a non-Mario title.
Outside of the top ten, Rugby Challenge 2: The Lions Tour Edition was a new entry at No.12.
GfK/Chart-Track Top 10 (previous week):
We said in our The Last of Us review: "The Last of Us is a remarkable achievement, and one of those rare games that you never want to end as you approach the finale. It tells a moving story that will linger in your mind long after the credits have rolled, but never loses sight of the fact that it's a video game, not a film. It's a masterful marriage of storytelling and game design, and easily Naughty Dog's finest moment."
In our Animal Crossing: New Leaf review we said the game is "an essential purchase for 3DS owners needing to unwind" and "a game you'll always make sure to have on you".
