Patrice Désilets fighting to finish 'amazing' 1666

Ousted Ubisoft designer Patrice D?silets has vowed to fight for ownership of his suspended game project 1616: Amsterdam, after he was allegedly fired by Ubisoft earlier this year.

Speaking during a session at the Gamelab conference in Barcelona this week, the former Assassin's Creed creative director said he hopes to one day finish the title.

"I'm fighting for it, and that's all I can say for now. It's all those years of experience put together," he said, as quoted by GamesIndustry.biz

"I'm sorry guys, it was amazing. And it still is amazing, and I hope to get it back and finish it for you - and for me."

D?silets quit Ubisoft in 2010 to establish THQ Montreal, but later saw his team and their in-development project acquired by his former employer.

He is now suing Ubisoft for $400,000, claiming that Ubisoft terminated his contract against his will and "unceremoniously escorted" him out of the building.

An Ubisoft statement suggests that D?silets had left the company after the pair were "unable to align their visions".

D?silets claims that a clause in his contract allows him the opportunity to acquire the rights to 1666 and certain assets should it be cancelled.

Ubisoft recently suspended development of the game "for an undisclosed period of time".
